He was the first to leave his native land and located at Montreal, Canada, where he engaged in the shoe business. He was followed by his widowed mother and the remainder of the family in 1820. They remained a short time in Montreal, then Mrs. Taggart and the two younger sons located at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
