General Notes: Husband - Hon. Francis Beatty
He grew to manhood on his father's farm in Delaware Township, Mercer County, PA. He went to Erie as a soldier in the War of 1812. In 1814 he and his wife settled on a farm in Salem Township. In 1824 he was appointed a justice of the peace by Gov. Gregg, and served till 1836, when the new constitution made the office an elective one. He was elected a county commissioner in 1834. In 1837 he was elected a member of the Legislature, and was re-elected the following two years. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church of Georgetown (later Sheakleyville), in which he was a ruling elder from 1833 up to his death.
