A native of the Palatinate, he emigrated to America about 1760, and settled in Derry township, Lancaster (later Dauphin) County, Pennsylvania, where he died. He and his wife are buried in the family graveyard, on the Horseshoe turnpike, two miles east of Hummelstown.
