General Notes: Husband - David M. Beatty

He grew up on the old homestead, and during his boyhood days learned the shoemaker's trade. Soon after his marriage he removed to Portersville, PA, where he resided about two years, then returned to Mercer County and located at Sheakleyville, where he carried on the boot and shoe business till his sudden death. He was a prominent Republican, and filled the office of justice of the peace in Sheakleyville twenty-three years, and died while serving his fifth term. He also went out in the ninety-days service during the Rebellion in Capt. John Stinson's company. He was a quiet, unassuming man of upright character, and died possessing a host of friends. Both he and his wife were Presbyterians all their lives, and belonged to the United Presbyterian body from its organization in 1858. [HMC 1888, 775]
