General Notes: Husband - Absalom Beatty
He attended the public school for a few years, but at an early age left school to become a bread winner. He learned the shoemaker's trade, which he followed several years, but later became a farmer of Manor township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, continuing until his death. He was a man of influence in the Democratic party, and held several township offices. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church, and from 1854 until his death in 1882 held the high office of elder. His wife was also a faithful active member.
