General Notes: Husband - James Whitehill
He came to the western part of Pennsylvania (Clarion county) with his parents. Followed the occupation of a farmer and finally by purchase became owner of part of the land which had belonged to his father. He left the farm in 1860 and followed the fortunes of the oil country in western Pennsylvania.
He moved his family to Shippenville, Clarion County, in 1860. He followed hotel life there for two years, then was burned out, from there he moved to Walnut Bend, on the Allegheny river, Venango County, where he resided but two years, then went to Oil City, where he resided until his death.
