General Notes: Husband - Jacob Silvis

He was born east of the Allegheny mountains, and was brought across them by his parents when he was just three years of age. They settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

To his agricultural work he added that of the gunsmith and blacksmith, in both of which lines he was an expert. He had an unusual inventive ability, and it was he was who built the first tumbling shaft threshing machine in that part of the country, and he was constantly in demand by his neighbors to repair all kinds of farming utensils and other iron and metal work.
He was the owner of excellent farming property in the region of Washington township. Mr. Silvis was a loyal Democrat in politics, and a member of the Lutheran church.

General Notes: Wife - Lydia Reeger

from Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA

She died at the age of seventy-one years.
