General Notes: Husband - John A. Russell

He moved from Ohio to Mt. Pleasant Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, in 1864. He remained on the farm until 1876, when he moved to Burgettstown and assisted his father in the mercantile business until 1884, when he embarked in business for himself. From that date until 1904 he conducted a butchering business and met with success and broadened the scope of his business and added groceries, flour and feed to the commodities he handled.
In his political views he was a Republican and served on the borough Council and school board for a number of terms, and on that ticket he was elected auditor of the borough.
He and his family were members of the United Presbyterian Church, of which he was treasurer for several years.
