He came to America from Ireland with two of his brothers, John and Francis, and their sister, Ann.
Another place in the same source states there were four brothers, and William is included.

He settled at Little Washington, Pennsylvania, Washington and Jefferson College being built on land he owned. [GPHWP, 839] The same source gives different information about this family. This statement is included as pertaining to James, but it might actually apply to one of his brothers.
