Rev. H. C. Jacobs
The Rev. H. C. Jacobs, 81, retired Free Methodist minister, died Friday in Eustis, Fla., where he had made his home for a number of years.
A native of Youngsville, Warren County, he was born Jan. 3, 1903, a son of Dr. C. H. and Belle Jacobs. He attended Youngsville public schools and seminary and college at Spring Arbor, Mich. Before he entered the ministry he received a degree in electrical engineering in Washington, D.C.
He served pastorates in Kane, Ellwood City, State College and Williamsport before going to the Oil City Free Methodist Church
in 1952.
In 1958, he was made superintendent of the Oil City District and he served in that capacity for eight years before coming to Franklin to pastor the First Free Methodist Church here. He retired from the Franklin church in 1968.
He was married to the former Claudia Leigh of Jackson, Mich., and she died on Nov. 16, 1978.
He is survived by his second wife, June, two children, Charles Jacobs of Florida and Martha Ann Briner of Texas, and three grandchildren.
His only brother, the Rev. Ralph Jacobs, a missionary to South Africa, preceded him in death.
Funeral services and burial will be in Eustis, Fla.
