General Notes: Husband - C. P. Rowles

He was nine years old before he had an opportunity to go to school and then received his first instruction at Crooked Run, Pennsylvania. After that he attended the Montcalm school, and the pupils were expected to be on hand six days in the week. Afterward he began to work at lumbering and continued it as a side line, until 1902, although farming was his main business. Following his marriage he rented the David Brown farm, near the family homestead, and lived on it until he purchased a home farm from Lewis I. Bloom, who erected the buildings on the place.
He and his family were members of the Methodist Episcopal church. In politics he was a Republican and served as county commissioner from 1903 to 1909, and also two terms as school director. He belonged to the Grange at Curwensville.
