Civil War: He was a member of company A, 61st Pennsylvania volunteers, and was killed at Spottsylvania Court House. He was a prisoner for some time. [HIC 1880, 477]

He was killed in the Wilderness and was buried in Wilderness burial grounds. [HPV II, 417]
