General Notes: Husband - John Soper
He was of English descent. By trade he was a molder, having learned this trade in Buffalo, New York. He worked throughout Butler County, Pennsylvania, and ran a foundry at Harrisville. He then opened a coal mine at Bully Hill, Venango County, but was not successful. From that place he went to Raymilton, Venango Ccounty, where he conducted a foundry in connection with a furnace. In 1868 he came into Clarion County, where he bought a farm of sixty-one acres. Beside farming he operated in coal. He put up about ten houses. In politics he was a Democrat. Both he and his wife were Methodists, although she had been in her younger days a Baptist.
