General Notes: Husband - Samuel Marshall Robinson
He was reared on the farm on which he was born, and received a good common-school and practical business education, learning the trade of tanner with his father. He was actively engaged in the tanning business for twenty years, and at the end of that time embarked in the oil business in Armstrong and adjoining counties in Pennsylvania. As an oil operator and producer, he was remarkably successful. Beside the home farm of one hundred and forty-five acres, to which he gave his personal attention, and upon which he built, in 1875, one of the finest brick dwellings in the county, he owned another well improved and highly productive farm of two hundred and eight acres of land in Butler County. In addition to farming, he dealt, to some extent, in stock, and frequently sent fat cattle to the eastern markets.
He was a democrat in politics, and at various times held all the offices of Hovey township. He was a member of the Protestant Episcopal church of Foxburg, of which he was senior warden.
