General Notes: Husband - Joseph Riter
He was a descendant of Michael Riter, who, with his brother, George Riter, emigrated from Saxony to Pennsylvania in 1752, settling in Germantown, Pennsylvania. Michael, the colonist, served in the Revolutionary War under Colonel Evans and Captain Brock, and while on a scouting expedition in 1777 was captured by the British and thrown into prison in Philadelphia, where he died in 1778.
He was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, in 1788, and removed to Pittsburgh in 1845.
