General Notes: Husband - John Ridgeway
He located in Venango County, PA, in the year 1800, with his father. They built the first saw-mill in Venango County, along the “Broken Straw” stream. They subsequently went to Brownsville, PA, and later his father built a combined grist and saw-mill about two miles northeast of Franklin. John Ridgeway followed building flat and keel boats for many years. These boats were used on the Allegheny River. He was a Whig and Republican. [HMC 1888, 1156]
He was a millwright and boatbuilder. He was originally a Friend, but later joined the Presbyterian Church.
