General Notes: Husband - John Stone

He was a native of the State of Vermont, and for a quarter of a century before his removal to Venango County lived in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, where he settled in 1810. There they lived until 1837, when they came to French Creek Township and located on a piece of land still in its primitive condition, though the locality was well settled up. Mr. Stone set himself to the task of improving his property, which comprised 160 acres, and he made a good farm and put up substantial buildings, the barn which he erected in about 1858 still standing, in usable condition. He was industrious and thrifty, and devoted his time entirely to his home interests, nevertheless he was public-spirited and alive to the general welfare, supporting the men he believed to be best qualified for office and upholding the principles of the Democratic Party. During the war of 1812 he served with the Vermont troops.

General Notes: Wife - Mary Smith

His wife was reared in Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
