He was a Mining Engineer; after graduating he took a post graduate course, receiving the degree of E. M. He resigned the professorship of metallurgy and assaying at the Pennsylvania State College (1909) to accept a position as chief engineer of the Corona Copper Company, Wenden, Arizona.
