General Notes: Husband - Asa C. Steele

He was reared to manhood in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and attended the public schools of his home vicinity. At the age of eighteen years he began working in the oil fields, and after a time was for some years a contractor and driller of oil wells. For more than twenty years he was an oil producer, and his efforts were attended with considerable success. He first located in Parker Township, Butler County, in 1880 and resided there without interruption until 1897, in which year he moved to Grove City. In 1907 he again took up his residence in Parker Township. He was a Prohibitionist in politics, and served several years as poor director in Parker Township. He was the nominee of his party, while a resident of Mercer County, for the lower house of the legislature, and made a good race for that office.
