General Notes: Husband - Edward Uhr Smith
He took up mining engineering, but after leaving college, specialized on bridge building. He took an active part in the construction of the largest drawbridge in the United States-the double-deck drawspan over the Harlem River, New York City. He was later located with the Fort Pitt Bridge Company, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
