General Notes: Husband - Elias Barns

---

After marriage he settled on the farm on which he had been engaged the previous summer in clearing up and improving. By industry and good management he built up a property of eighty acres of well-improved land. He was a carpenter by trade, and also erected many buildings in the surrounding townships, as well as his own house. Mr. Barns was sometimes a Representative to the State Grange; was a Methodist in religion; in politics originally a Whig, later a Republican.
