Slippery Rock Twp, Lawrence Co, PA - a farmer
He received his early schooling in the district schools of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, supplemented by a course in Hall Institute at Sharon, which he attended two terms. Upon his return from school, he turned his attention to agricultural pursuits. He worked for his grandfather for three years, then in 1894 purchased his own farm of sixty-five acres, lying in Slippery Rock Township, about seven miles southeast of New Castle. He was engaged in general farming and truck gardening, in which line he was decidedly successful.
