General Notes: Husband - Paul Amos Bartholomew

His school years were mainly spent in Ligonier, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and his preparatory education obtained in the Pittsburgh and Edgewood High Schools. After a year at Thiel College, Greenville, Pennsylvania, he entered Pennsylvania College, at Gettysburg, and graduated with his class in 1905. He was interested in outdoor athletics, and while at college played on the varsity football team and was active in college musical and dramatic clubs. Having decided upon the profession of architecture, he entered the School of Architecture, University of Pennsylvania, and graduated with the class of 1908. He spent time during and after his graduation in practical work with Philadelphia and Pittsburgh architects, locating in Greensburg in 1910, where he then devoted his time to the general practice of architecture, with offices in the Coulter Building. Among his more notable buildings was the Young Men's Christian Association Building in Greensburg. In addition to his Greensburg office he maintained an office in Pittsburgh for several years, under the firm name of Bartholomew & Smith. But at the outbreak of the first World War, owing to Mr. Smith enlisting, this office was temporarily closed.
Mr. Bartholomew was a member of the Pittsburgh Chapter, American Institute of Architects, the Pittsburgh Architectural Club, the Greensburg Country Club, the Greensburg Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge, No. 518, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 511, and the Sigma Chi fraternity.
