He took similar honors to his grandfather's famous cousin. He was a doctor of philosophy of Princeton University, a charter member of the Astronomical and
Astro-Physical Society of America, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was elected a foreign member of the Royal Societies Club of St. James street, London, England.
