He was a farmer and a great hunter. He removed before 1793 [from Berks County, Pennsylvania,] to Northumberland County, where all of the children were born.
He and his wife were both Lutherans.

The old Scholl homestead was in the Irish Valley, four miles north of Shamokin, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
