General Notes: Husband - John Galbraith
He resided in (Lancaster County?) Pennsylvania, where the Mount Joy and Marietta turnpikes cross Donegal run; he owned a large tract of land. He was elected sheriff of Lan-caster county in 1731 and was a prominent man in his locality. In 1757 Janet, his widow, and James Galbraith sold the mill which he built to John Baley.
He settled along Donegal Meeting-House run, about one and three-fourths miles below his brother, Andrew, in 1718; was a miller by trade, and built a grist and saw-mill in 1721, at the run along the "great road," which, very likely branched from the Paxtang and Conestoga road some miles east of Mount Joy, and extended through the Scotch-Irish settlement to the Conoy Indian town; he also kept an "ordinary;" was elected sheriff of the county of Lancaster in 1731; and was a member of the first jury drawn in that county.
