General Notes: Husband - John Ross Read

He was born in eastern Pennsylvania and moved to Clearfield County at an early date, crossing the mountains on horseback.

He was born in Cecil County, Maryland, but the greater part of his life was spent in Lawrence township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. He purchased, in 1815, a farm which then comprised one hundred acres of timbered land. This he cleared and cultivated, making it his permanent home. In his politics he was Democratic and in religion a Presbyterian.
