General Notes: Husband - Daniel Putnam
He was born in Vermont, and in 1830, with his brother Edson, migrated to Warren County, Pennsylvania, the two being accompanied by their aged father.
In 1830 he purchased 160 acres of new land in Farmington township, Warren County, Pennsylvania. At that time there were no roads, only trails, and very few settlers in that part of the county. He cleared a farm, later owned by Sextus King, and planted the orchard, still standing and bearing abundant fruit seventy years later. Subsequently he owned the farm known as the "Carlson farm," in the same township, building a very substantial set of buildings there.
In his religious views he entertained very liberal ideas, contributing to the support of all denominations, but having no favorite one. Death came to him without warning. One day he went to Russell on a milling trip, and while standing in the door of the mill during a heavy thunderstorm, was struck by lightning and instantly killed.
