General Notes: Husband - Daniel Shirey
He was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and accompanied his parents to Westmoreland County while still a young man. His home was located on what was later known as the George Hugus farm, near Pleasant Unity, where he carried on agricultural operations. His principal business, however, was the hauling of freight to various points in that then undeveloped region, and it was while thus engaged, on the road near Wheeling, West Virginia, that he received a fatal kick from a horse. He was buried in the region where he meet his death. When but twenty-two years of age, he was married while still living in Bucks County, and here his first child was born in 1809. It was in the following year that the family removed to Westmoreland County.
