General Notes: Wife - Margaret Proudfit

She was a healthy and vigorous child, but, owing probably to an injury received in girlhood, was an invalid for the greater part of her adult life. Those who knew her described her as pleasing in person, bright in intellect, of a decided literary taste, and possessed of a fine voice. The pleasure of listening to her singing was almost invariably spoken of by anyone alluding to acquaintance with her.
About 1844 she went to Michigan to spend some time with the members of her family who had moved to that state. Improving health seemed to give promise of complete recovery, when she was attacked by an acute disorder from which she died.
