He read medicine with Dr. Burger, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated at the Hahnemann Medical College, in Philadelphia, in the class of 1879. The following year he went abroad, where he pursued his studies in the best European hospitals. He later located in Sewickley, where he built up a fine practice.
