General Notes: Husband - Luke Porter

After marriage he settled near Sharon, PA, and removed in 1835 to a farm later occupied by his son William. He reared one son and eight daughters. His first wife died in Mercer County, and he was again married and removed to Virginia, where he was later killed by the cars in 1883.

He was a native of eastern Pennsylvania, and settled in Mercer county shortly after the second war with Great Britain; he was by oc­cupation a miller and general speculator, and in political belief adhered to the Jacksonian prin­ciples of the Democratic party.
