General Notes: Husband - John Porter
He received a common school education, and learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed for several years. In June, 1852, he settled in Marion township, Butler County, PA, on a farm on which he has made all the improvements. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, was an ardent advocate of prohibition, and voted the Republican ticket. He served in the Union army ten months during the Civil war.
He and his wife had eleven children.
