General Notes: Husband - Strickler W. Pollock
Reared in California, Pennsylvania, he supplemented his local schooling by a course in the State Normal School in California and when sixteen years of age, in 1904, became a salesman in the California store of the Pittsburgh Mercantile Company, general merchandise. When he attained his majority he was made one of the department managers of that store and remained there until 1914, when he was made manager of the store this company in that year established in the old river settlement of Vestaburg, where he then located and where he built up a fine trade, this store having proved a very great convenience to the people in that trade area.
Mr. Pollock was a republican and in the autumn of 1922 was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board of the directors of the poor in Washington County. In 1923 he was elected to succeed himself in that position. He also for six years served as school director in East Bethlehem township. Mr. Pollock was a member of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, was a thirty-second degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Noble of the Mystic Shrine, affiliated with Syria Temple at Pittsburgh, and he and his wife were members of the Presbyterian church.
