General Notes: Husband - John Sayre
He and his wife were early settlers of Richmond Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. He was, in his day, one of the most prominent men in the county, a consistent Christian, hard-working man, esteemed and respected by all who knew him, and his death universally mourned. In the few years he lived in Richmond Township he cleared for himself nearly 200 acres of land. He gave his life to save the Union, having been killed at the battle of the Wilderness during the war of the Rebellion.
