General Notes: Husband - Robert Sample


He was reared and educated in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, and before the inception of the civil war, came with his brother John, to Clarion County and located on a farm of one hundred acres in the vicinity of Churchville. Later he settled on a farm situated near New Bethlehem and there resided until his demise. He was a breeder of short-horn cattle and met with considerable success in general farming. A Republican in politics, he was incumbent of a number of important township offices during the latter part of his life, among them being those of school director and township supervisor. He and his wife were zealous members of the Presbyterian church, in which he was an elder.

He was the father of eight children, six of whom were still living in 1912.
