Mehard, of Mercer, PA, commenced practice at Centreville, Butler County, in March, 1862, where he remained until 1866, in which year he removed to Tionesta, Forest County, because of ill health, and continued his professional duties at that point for two years. In 1868 he returned to Centreville, where he has been engaged in continuous practice for the past twenty-six years. In the spring of 1881 he graduated at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia. He was one of the building committee, and then served as trustee of that institution. He was one of the incorporators and original directors of the Centreville Savings Bank, and was prominent in the social and material development of the borough. Up to 1884 the doctor was a Democrat, but after that year he supported the Prohibition party.
