He graduated from Girard College Feb. 17, 1916, when not quite eighteen years of age. After graduation he spent about ten days with his Grandfather Neff, then went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where within a short time he secured a position as stenographer for the Reliance Life Insurance Company of Pittsburgh. After he had been with them for about five months he was promoted to the office of treasurer of the Michigan department, at Detroit, Michigan.
