General Notes: Husband - Harry Steiner Patty
He obtained his education in the local public school. He was a precocious student and was unusually developed, both mentally and physically, for at the age of sixteen years he became his father's assistant at carpenter work. He continued to work in this capacity for four years, but was ambitious to be engaged in business independently, and accordingly, though only twenty years of age at the time, he and his brother, Clayton D. Patty, then aged eighteen, on February 15, 1910, purchased a grocery store at Murrysville and began business there on a small scale. They at once began to improve their establishment with the result that their business developed until it became one of the largest of its kind in the town. In addition to the grocery department, they began to carry a general stock of merchandise and feed and were continually enlarging both the scope and character of the enterprise. Mr. Patty was a Republican in politics and actively identified himself with the local organization of his party in the town. In his religious belief he was a Presbyterian and attended the church of that denomination at Murrysville, where he occupied the position of trustee.
