General Notes: Husband - John Patton, Jr.
Beginning his education in the common schools of Curwensville, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, he passed through a thorough course of study in higher institutions, graduating at Yale College in 1875, and in 1877 he took a degree from Columbia Law School. He became a leading attorney at Grand Rapids, Michigan, and vice-president of the Peoples Savings Bank. He held a prominent position in political life; was president of the State League of Republican Clubs, and a member of the U. S. Senate, succeeding Senator Stockbridge, and, with Gens. Alger and Withington, was a member of the Blair Statue Commission for the State of Michigan.
