General Notes: Husband - Campbell Ledlie Reed

He attended the schools of Cecil Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and for a number of years engaged in farming and resided on the line between Washington and Allegheny Counties. About 1890 he moved to Cecil Township and there conducted a lumber yard for the firm of Short & Wade and later purchased the business and continued there until 1900, when he sold out all his interests and then came to Houston, where he embarked in the same business. Four years later he admitted Charles M. Short to partnership under the firm name of Reed & Short. They opened lumberyards in Avella and Houston. This partnership
was carried on for six years, at the end of which time the Avella yard
was sold and Mr. Reed bought his partner's interest in the business in
Houston, carrying on thereafter at that place under the trade name of
C. L. Reed until in due time he gave to his son, C. C. Reed, and his daughter, Mrs. Pauline (Reed) Templeton, each an interest in the business, which was then carried on under the name of the C. L. Reed Lumber Company, with a plant at No. 313 West Pike street. Mr. Reed gave attention to local civic affairs and rendered service as burgess of Houston. He was a member of the board of directors of the Oak Spring Cemetery Association and he and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian church.
