He was twenty-four years of age when he came to North Beaver Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and at the time of his marriage, he and his wife settled on a farm of 105 acres, where he then engaged in general farming and dairying. In 1895 he built a handsome residence, which was in keeping with the other substantial improvements which he made upon the place.
