He was born in 1789. [TV, 207]
He was born in Union County, PA, and came to Venango County in 1820, and bought eighty-two acres of land, which he cleared up for a home for himself and family, undergoing all the privations and hardships of a new country. He settled on the farm later owned by John Pryor, where he remained till his death. He was engaged in building and superintending the building of furnaces. Superintended the building of McClelland’s Slab, and the McCalmont furnace.
