General Notes: Husband - John Alexander Murphy

His mother died while he was still very young and he made his home with Thomas Wasson until thirteen years of age. After his father's second marriage he returned to the family residence in Curwensville, Pennsylvania, where he remained until enlisting, in 1861, in the old "Bucktail Regiment," for service in the Civil War. He participated in every engagement in which his command took part until 1864, when he was stricken with typhoid fever and died in a hospital, his remains being interred at Washington, D. C.
