General Notes: Husband - John Barnett

He was born August 18. [PGCSIG, 67] The same source give two different dates of birth.

He was a farmer by occupation. At the outset of the Revolution he was appointed a lieutenant in the Hanover battalion of Associators, commanded by Colonel Timothy Green. He served with distinction at Long Island, August 27, 1776, and through the campaign of 1777 was in constant active service. During the remainder of the war, he was in command of a volunteer company, which was formed for the protection of the frontiers from the encroachments of the Tories and their allies, the Indians of New York.
