General Notes: Husband - P. H. Ziegler
Civil War: He entered the army as a member of Company K, 116th N. Y. S. Vols., and served from July 30th, 1862, to July 13th, 1865. He was a drummer two months, and then exchanged the drum for a gun. He was wounded at Finleytown, Indiana. He was with Banks, in the Red river campaign. He was attacked by the yellow fever, and after being at the Chesapeake and Harrisburg hospitals, was sent to Philadelphia, where he acted as orderly for the provost marshal; subsequently he joined company A, 19th regiment, invalid corps, stationed at Washington; thence was transported to Elmira, New York, where he assisted in guarding the confederate prisoners till the cessation of hostilities. He located in Franklin, Pennsylvania, in 1869, and after clerking for H. G. Sheasley, a grocer, engaged in partnership with him.
