Under the leadership of Marquis de Lafayette, many of the sons of France left their homeland for a life of war in the western world, assisting the American colonies in the Revolutionary War. Among these soldiers was Paul Orlady. After the War of Independence, he did not return to France, but settled in Pennsylvania.
