General Notes: Husband - Jacob Peterson

He was born on the old Michael Keffer farm, Ligonier township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and received his education in local schools. His first employment was with the Ligonier Valley Railroad Company, with which he held a clerkship for four years. At the end of that time Mr. Peterson entered the service of the National Tube Company, Pittsburgh, serving in the Republic department. Beginning as pay-roll clerk he had advanced to the position of chief clerk when, in 1906, he severed his connection with the company. Having a desire to go into business for himself Mr. Peterson returned to Ligonier and in association with his brother, William A. Peterson, established a general store under the firm name of W. A. Peterson & Company. After the death of his brother, Jacob became sole proprietor and continued to conducted the business. His store was situated on the corner of the Diamond and Market street, with a frontage of sixty feet on the Diamond and one hundred feet on Market street. Like his father, Mr. Peterson was a Democrat, but had no inclination for public life. He was affiliated with Ligonier Lodge, No. 331, Free and Accepted Masons, and was a member of St. James' Evangelical Lutheran church.
