General Notes: Husband - John "Goshen John" Thompson


In 1809 he settled on the old Poultney tract on which was subsequently located the Van Dyke Station. This tract was known as the "Happy Banks of Goshen," and he was known as "Goshen John" or "John Goshen" to distinguish him from "Bridge John" Thompson, who lived below Thompsontown.
