He was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, was reared in his native land, and learned the butcher's trade. He afterwards immigrated to Pennsylvania, and opened a meat market in Butler, where he resided until his death.


General Notes: Wife - Margaret Nicklas


She was of German descent, and came to America with her parents at the age of fourteen.
